It has three production lines

Clinker Production lines

they all work by the wet process. These lines were delivered by the German company POLYSIUS with a nominal production capacity for each line about 200ton clinker/day.Line1 was put in operation in 1952 and Line2 in 1956 and Line3 in 1958. the plant produces currently about 585 ton clinker/day and it is specialized in producing special cements.

The Paper Sack Factory:

it produces paper sacks to fill the produced cement. It takes the necessary paper from Der Alzor paper factory in Syria and from the markets.

It produces about 2482500 sack/year- one shift - and it fulfills the company's needs and a part of the needs of the other cement plants in the country.

Musslmieh Cement Plant

It has three production lines as follows:

Line 1:
working by the wet process technology and delivered by the German company POLYSIUS-DISSAU in 1960 with a production capacity 300 ton clinker/day. It produces now about 345 ton clinker/day. It produces special kinds of cement which are required in relatively small quantities.

Line 2:
working by the dry process technology and delivered by SKET-ZAB, Eastern Germany. It was put in operation in 1974 with a nominal production capacity 1000 ton clinker/day. It produces currently about 900 ton clinker/day.

Line 3:
working by the dry process technology and delivered by SKET-ZAB-DISSAU, Eastern Germany. It was put in operation in 1980 with a nominal production capacity 1000 ton clinker/day. It produces currently about 875 ton clinker/day.

The paper sack factory:

Quality Control System

Quality Control System

All stages of production are monitored and checked periodcally in the lab by taking samples from every stage (on hourly, shiftly, daily basis ….).

The company has a modern quality control system and it

consists of the following:

X-ray analyser to control regularly the quality of raw materials and the agent product, then the clinker and the final product.
Checking the test results by X-ray.

There are labs that are fully equipped to use the bulk method for the chemical analysis.
The test results are checked by the General organization of Cement in Damascus and samples of our prodcut are tested in the Industrial Lab Center which is affiliated to the Ministry of Industry and in the labs of other cement facotries in the country.

Cement Produced Types

       Alchahba is the oldest cement company in Syria and is a leading manufacturer following two cement production processes , dry and wet.

The company produces two types of black cement

Ordinary Portland Cement as per Syrian Standard Spec. No. 1887 in 1997 type 1 kind 32.5. The specifications are taken from EU specification no. E.N.U 196. It suits the requirements of the area and which is the market of the company.

Sulfate Resistant Cement as per Syrian Standard Spec. No. 246 in 2003, kind 32.5. The specifications are taken from EU specification no. E.N.U 196.
Knowing that the company has the possibility to produce other kinds of cement if required, for example:

-      Ordinary Portland Cement of high resistance up to 550 Newton/mm²
-      Ordinary Portland Cement, sulfate resistant and of high resistance up to 550 Newton/mm²
-      Cement for oil wells as per American Standard Spec (API 10A/G).
-      Pozzolana Ordinary Portland Cement
-      Lime Ordinary Portland Cement
-      Other types of cement according to the client's needs.

General Infomation About Company

General Information

The company was established with a nominal capital amounting 801 000 000 SYP, out of which only 406 804 045 SYP was paid and 394 195 955 SYP was unpaid.
It was registered at the Commercial Register on 2.8.1966 no. 2839.

It has a certificate of membership from Aleppo Chamber of Commerce as per the decree no. 12 dtd 29.2.1963 classified as an excellent company and it has an Industrial Register no. 1 in the field of cement industry and industrial register no. 5 in the field of paper sacks industry and it is subsidiary to The General Organization of Cement in Damascus which is affiliated to the Ministry of Industry.

The Company's History

Alchahba Cement Company was established in Sheikh Said area in 1949 with one wet process line delivered by the German company POLYSIUS with a production capacity 200 ton clinker/day. It was put in operation in 1950 and in 1955 a similar production line was added and a third one in 1958. Another plant was established in Bourj Islam area in Latakia with one production line with a production capacity 250 ton clinker/day.

By local efforts from the technicians in the Sheikh Said plant and the equipment imported from different companied, the plant was invested in 15.7.1965.

The National Cement Company in Musslmieh area was established and started production on 25.5.1960 with one wet process line with a production capacity 330 ton clinker/day.
Both companies we nationalized by the decree-law no.1 in 1965 and they were merged and became one company under the name Alchahba Cement and Building Materials Company as per the decree of the Minister of Industry no. 27 in 1966.

In 1974,a new working by the dry process technology line was added from SKET-ZAB, Eastern Germany with a nominal production capacity 1000 ton clinker/day. And another similar line was added in 1979. The actual production capacity is 800 ton clinker/day max. ever since adding these two line, the technicians in the company worked very hard to improve the production capacity by making several partial modifications till they reached the production capacity 900 ton clinker/day for the first dry line and 875 ton clinker/day for the second dry line.

Bourj Islam plant was stopped permanently on 1.7.1997 for environmental and economical reasons.

Cement Definition

What is cement

Cement, as per the definition of the Syrian Specification 1887 in 1997,
is a non-organic water relation that provides coherency and when
mixed with water forms dough which becomes solid because of the
hydration reactions.

This dough gets its resistance gradually until it get to the maximum
when the hydration is finished and it keeps this resistance unless
affected by sudden external factors.

The cement is mixed with pebbles to have concrete that is valid
for a sufficient period to have certain degree of resistance.
In the cement industry, limestone, clay and basalt are used and
when grinded and burned at a very high temperature to form clinker
and by grinding clinker with some natural lime we get Portland cement.

The cement industry improved throughout the passage of time and
the rotary wet process kilns become dry process kilns.
